Department of Physics
Simon Fraser University
The Physics Department at Simon Fraser University invites
applications for a tenure-track appointment as assistant professor,
subject to final budgetary approval, in the area of experimental high
energy physics. We are searching for an individual of outstanding
background and exceptional promise who will establish a vigorous
independent research program and will have a strong commitment to
undergraduate and graduate teaching. We are currently institutional
members of the ATLAS and D0 experiments and wish to strengthen our role
in ATLAS and future experiments (
hep.phys.sfu.ca).
The SFU ATLAS group has strong ties to TRIUMF (www.triumf.ca),
Canada’s national laboratory for subatomic physics located in Vancouver
B.C., which is hosting a Tier-1
ATLAS data analysis centre. The department also has a broad research
program in condensed matter and atomic physics, soft condensed
matter/biological physics and cosmology
(www.sfu.ca/physics).
Simon Fraser University is committed to employment equity
and encourages applications from all
qualified women and men, including visible minorities,
aboriginal people and persons with
disabilities. All qualified candidates are encouraged to
apply; however Canadians and permanent
residents will be given priority. Under the authority of
the University Act, personal information
that is required by the University for academic
appointment competitions will be collected
(www.sfu.ca/vpacademic/Faculty_Openings/Collection_Notice.html).
Applicants should submit
a curriculum vitae, publication list, and short statement
of research and teaching interests; please
submit either electronic or hardcopy versions but not
both. Candidates should arrange for three
letters of recommendation to be supplied in confidence.
