CNRS/IN2P3 is opening three postdoctoral positions to
work on the ATLAS experiment in the French laboratories
(see
http://atlas-france.in2p3.fr). As the other IN2P3 ATLAS groups, CPPM
invites candidates interested in joining its ATLAS activities to apply
and will sponsor the best applicants during the final selection stage.
CPPM (http://marwww.in2p3.fr)
is involved in several major projects in experimental particle physics,
astroparticle and cosmology.
The ATLAS group at CPPM consists of about thirty-five
people, including thirteen staff physicists, ten graduate students, and
engineers. The group played a major role in the design and construction
of the pixel detector, the electromagnetic endcap calorimeters and the
trigger system, and pursues an R&D effort for the pixel upgrades.
Current activities focus on the physics object identification (b-jets,
electrons, missing energy) and on the preparation for data analysis
using those objects (Standard Model physics and searches with electrons;
top quark production, mass and properties; Higgs boson and supersymetry
searches).
The group has a long standing involvement in b-jet
identification and the successfull candidate will be expected to play a
major role in the commissioning of the b-tagging tools: software
development and maintenance, commissioning of the taggers with early
data and measurement of the b-tagging performance in data. She/he will
also strengthen and/or expend our physics analyses relying on b-tagging.
The position is for a fixed term of three years, starting
in November 2009. Candidates for the position should hold a Ph.D. in
Experimental Particle Physics. Salary is commensurate with experience
and qualifications.
Candidates are invited to contact Dr. Laurent Vacavant (vacavant@in2p3.fr,
+41 22 767 1145) for further information, and to send him their complete
application package and arrange for two letters of recommendation to be
sent before September 4, 2009.
