One postdoctoral
research position is available at The Laboratoire de l'Accelerateur
Lineaire d'Orsay (LAL) to work on physics analysis of the data of LHCb
experiment at CERN.
The LAL LHCb
group is responsible for part of the construction of the LHCb
Calorimeters electronics and of the level0
electronics. The
group consists of 9 researchers and 3 PhD students.
Members of the
group are now preparing the analysis of the first LHCb data, in
particular the complete analysis of Bc hadrons properties. This
programme is supported by the French ANR (Agence Nationale de la
Recherche). The objectives of this programme are to determine with
precision the properties of the Bc particle (lifetime, mass, main
branching fractions). This will include the determination of luminosity
and bb crosssections using the very first data recorder by the
experiment.
The position is
funded for two years; the position will be based in Orsay, close to
Paris, with frequent travels to CERN, and will start before end of July
2008. Applicants must have a PhD degree in high energy physics with
relevant experience, in particular a strong knowledge in C++.
Enquiries and
applications (including CV and names of three references) can be sent
