Two Positions for ATLAS at LHC

The experimental particle physics group of the Humboldt-University Berlin ( http://www-eep.physik.hu-berlin.de ) is member of the ATLAS Collaboration at CERN's upcoming Large Hadron Collider (LHC). ATLAS is a multi-purpose detector built to search the Higgs boson, look for phenomena beyond the standard model and to explore heavy quark physics in proton proton collisions at 14 TeV.

For these fields, we invite for a

1) Postdoc Position (AN/115/07)

Salary: - Vgr. IIa - BAT-O i.d.F. d. AnwTV HU (limited to max. 6 years) Candidates with a PhD degree in particle physics. Focus of the activities in the position will be data acquisition and analysis at ATLAS, e. g. the search for new phenomena beyond the standard model. In parallel, there will be

opportunity to work on hardware developments for future experiments. Candidates are expected to participate in teaching. Experience in the fields of data analysis, object-oriented programming or detector development are highly welcome.

And for a

2) PhD Student Position (AN/116/07)

Salary: Part time (50%) - Vgr. IIa - BAT-O i.d.F. d. AnwTV HU (limited to max. 6 years) Candidates with a diploma or master thesis in the field of experimental nuclear, astroparticle or particle physics. The position allows to participate in the data acquisition and analysis of the ATLAS experiment within the

frame of a PhD thesis. Experience in the fields of data analysis, object-oriented programming or detector development are welcome.

The box number should be given in the application letters. Applications (c.v., statement of research interest and two letters of reference) should be sent till 22 Dec. 2007 to:
