Main purpose of the job:
The Particle Physics Group at the University of Manchester invites
applications for a Research Associate to work on the D0 experiment at
the Fermilab Tevatron. The three-year position has been awarded as part
of STFC's Responsive RA scheme. The Tevatron is currently the only
running accelerator at the high energy frontier and D0 will continue to
take data until 2009 or possibly until 2010. Among other projects, the
Manchester D0 group is playing important roles in searches for both
Standard Model and SUSY Higgs, as well as top quark measurements. We
also currently provide the coordinators for the D0 calorimeter
algorithms and track trigger groups.
The successful candidate will be expected to play a leading role in
Higgs searches and will help in the supervision of postgraduate
students. Ideally the successful candidate would be based
permanently at Fermilab, in which case an additional overseas cost of
living allowance would be paid.
Alternatively, regular travel to the experiment would be required.
Allowances: A successful candidate based permanently at Fermilab
would receive additional Long Term Attachment (LTA) and/or Nightly
Subsistance Allowance (NSA) towards the cost of overseas living. LTA and
NSA to be advised on appointment.
