Research Associate Position for LHCb
Experimental High Energy Physics Group
Department of Structure and Constituents
of the Matter
University of Barcelona (UB)
The HEP group at the UB is actively
involved in the commissioning of the LHCb detector at CERN.
Our main contributions are in the readout
(RO) electronics of the calorimeter system, and we are present in the
rare decays, flavour tagging, HLT trigger and offline computing working
groups of the collaboration.
The physics analysis of the LHCb data is
due to produce competitive results from the very beginning of data
taking.
The group has also some contributions to
the running BaBar experiment and in the R&D effort for the ILC
detectors.
In order to strengthen our position in
the physics analysis of the LHCb data, we are seeking for highly
qualified applicants to fill a research associate position. The selected
candidate is expected to undertake his/her own analysis
responsibilities, as well as contribute to the supervision of the
group's graduate students.
The position is expected to start as
early as January 2008 and will extend until July 2009. At that point
renewal and/or promotion would be considered.
The candidate should offer a solid
background in the field and preferably at least 1 year of post-doctoral
experience. We offer a salary based on the University of Barcelona "Grup
I" contract.
The selected candidate is to be based in
Barcelona, with frequent stays at CERN as required by his/her work.
