ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PHYSICS
UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME
The Department of Physics at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a tenure track assistant professorship in experimental high energy physics to start in August, 2008. The Department of Physics has 37 teaching and research faculty members and approximately 100 graduate students. The principal research areas of the department include astronomy/astrophysics, atomic physics, biophysics, condensed matter physics, high energy physics and nuclear physics. Faculty members are expected to be effective teachers at both the undergraduate and the graduate level and to initiate and maintain vigorous research programs. Notre Dame has a large and active experimental high energy physics program with a strong presence on CMS, D0, BaBar, Double Chooz and ILC R&D. Our current CMS efforts involve HCAL and ECAL commissioning, extensive test beam work, ECAL and Tau algorithm development, and other software activities.
