HOMER L. DODGE CHAIR OF HIGH ENERGY PHYSICS

The Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for the Homer L. Dodge Endowed Chair in high energy physics. This is one of three endowed chairs made possible by a gift in honor of Homer L. Dodge, a former chair of the department, co–founder and first president of the American Association of Physics Teachers, and a principal figure in the formation of the American Institute of Physics. The department has active research groups in astronomy and astrophysics; atomic, molecular, and chemical physics; high energy physics; and solid state and applied physics. The high energy faculty consists of 4 experimentalists and 3 theorists. Current research interests in high energy physics include work on the DØ and ATLAS experiments, collider phenomenology and theoretical studies of quantum field theories. Further information about the department can be found at http://nhn.ou.edu.

Qualified applicants in theoretical and experimental high energy physics are encouraged to apply. The appointment is expected to begin in August, 2008, at the full or associate professor level with tenure. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in physics, a demonstrated record of accomplishment in research as evidenced by an ongoing

externally funded research program, and a publication record that provides evidence of outstanding creativity and promise of future research contributions. The department enjoys a friendly and supportive work environment, and the successful applicant is expected to contribute to this environment. The ability to collaborate with other members of the high energy physics group, directly or indirectly, and to teach effectively at the graduate and undergraduate levels, is desired.

Applications, consisting of a cover letter, C.V., list of publications, statement of research and teaching interests, and the names of three references (who will be contacted only with permission of the applicant) should be submitted electronically, preferably as a single pdf file, to search@nhn.ou.edu. Screening of applications will begin March 1, 2008, and will continue until the position is filled.
