Faculty Position in
Experimental Particle Physics
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PHYSICS, Position No. 83915, Department of
Physics and
Astronomy, University of Hawaii at Manoa, tenure track position to begin
in
January 2010, pending position clearance and availability of funds.
Applicants
with experience and interest in experimental physics at electron-
positron
colliders are especially encouraged to apply.
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to be active in
research and
have a strong commitment to teaching. The experimental High Energy
Physics
Group is involved in studies of B-mesons (Belle & Belle-II),
electron-positron
physics in the tau/charm threshold energy region (BES-III), neutrino
physics,
(SuperK,
KamLAND), radio detection of high energy particles (ANITA), and
advanced detector development for high energy physics. The research
program of
the Theory group is phenomenological in character and presently includes
neutrino physics and astrophysics, flavor physics, CP violation,
collider
physics, supersymmetry and other physics beyond the Standard Model.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in physics and a minimum of three years of
post-doctoral experience in experimental particle physics, or
equivalent, is
required. Desirable Qualifications: demonstrated ability to do
independent
research, supervise graduate student research and initiate new programs.
Pay
Range: commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applications
