Responsibilities

Performs project engineering and construction management. Prepares and oversees the preparation of engineering designs, technical specifications and cost estimates for the Stanford Synchrotron Light Source (SSRL) ARRA projects; administers subcontracts; reviews and approves payment invoices; meets, confers and resolves problems with staff, subcontractors, engineers and the PMOG regarding the Laboratory policies, regulations and procedures and presentations of project progress and reports; oversees and participates in the review of construction projects; inspects subcontractor work to ensure conformance with plans and specifications. Able to carry out projects from conceptual design to construction completion. Directs and supervises the work of designers and drafters of different disciplines to develop construction drawings. Able to develop critical path method project schedules using Microsoft Project. Utilizes in-house resources and outside consultants in engineering designs. Willing to work some weekends and extended workdays when needed. This position has the possibility to converting to a regular ongoing position.

Required Skills

Bachelor of Science degree in civil/structural engineering, MS preferred. Extensive construction management experience in medium to heavy construction. Possesses knowledge and experience in developing project schedules using both Micro Project and Primavera Project management software. Demonstrates ability to apply scientific and engineering principles to design tasks. Experienced in CADD design/drafting, Auto CAD & Intergraph preferred. Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Power Point. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with engineers, scientists and crafts personnel under tight schedules. Familiar with CBC, UBC, AISC, UMC, and Fed OSHA. Valid California driver license required for driving vehicles on site.
