I got a lot out of this talk. I found his review of the beamline engineers methodology to be insightful for my prior interactions with them as a user this past summer. The first (heater) project was well motivated and excitingly discussed. The grating holder was particularly interesting to me because it seemed to be perfectly engineered for the task at hand, yet simple enough that Austens time and efforts seemed well-spent.
